Just wondering actually how much turbo calcium can safely be added at once to my tank?  According to the container, I should only be adding a maximum of 1 teaspon in my 180 tank per day to raise my levels.  Will I do any harm by adding too much at once or will it just cause a "snow storm"?

You can definitely add more than what is recommended on the container and as long as your alk and mag are at a good level and you don't raise your calcium too quickly, you shouldn't have to worry about precipitation.  What are your levels at now?

It was down to about 300 yesterday when I tested it.  I've had a lot of pink/purple coralline growth lately.  The mag was okay at around 1300, but I added a little to up that too...and, yes, I waited a few hour in between adding the mag and the calcium.  The alk was at around 10 point something almost 11...I don't remember exactly.

Get a shot glass and dose two at a time.. If you dissolve it in water first it will mix better. But it gets got so no plastic cups.. Same for your buffer and as the coralline gets going stronger then it will deplete the Ca alk and Mad even faster.

When I was dosing kents Turbo Calcium I was just dumping heaping tablespoons into a cup, mixing with fresh water and dumping in the sump.  Each day it raised my CA by 40-60ppm - once I got it to 550 I ran my calcium reactor and after a while I dialed it into 600ppm and my Mag stays around 1450 with a steady 7.15 pH.  Turbo Calium rocks....but if you play it safe like the can says to you will be there a long ass time.

That's what I figured.  Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't harm anything by raising my CA too quickly by dosing more.

You know what is really funny?  I wonder if Roger really meant to say this in his signature line under the Simpsons character: "OK so a have a beer here and there.."  doesn't make sense but like I said earlier...I understand it!!!!!!!! banana

Not to interrupt your yuck fest - but I just chuck in a couple of tablespoons of turbo calcium into the sump if its below 500 - haven't had a problem in 4 years.  I don't bother to dissolve it - the sum is 30 gal so I'm sure it gets dissolved on the way back into the tank.
