hi, i did a favour for a guy who in return sold me alot of live rock for a very cheep price, he runs a aqutics shop and is helping me on my way to the marine aqurium, i am slightley worried as my rock looks brown and only has small patches of purple algae and worm like shells some of the rocks do have a fluffy texture, i dont know wat part of the word it is from, is the rock ok, or if not will the rock recover and if so wat actions will i have to take

Hi,  uouo
Yes the rock is fine.
Basically live rock is just dead coral skeletons. Purple or coralline algae will come back if conditions in the tank are right. Fluffy texture i cant comment on but may be just a die off of old algae. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Live rock that has been stored in the garden will become live again once its been i the tank for a while.
